When Microsoft purchased Rare in 2002, expectations were high for the studio to continue its award-winning work on Xbox. Unfortunately, Rare has largely failed to live up to fan expectations since the Microsoft acquisition, failing to truly capitalize on the popularity of its beloved IP like Banjo-Kazooie . There hasn’t been a new Banjo-Kazooie game since 2008’s Nuts & Bolts , so platforming fans are hungry for a proper new entry in the series, especially after the titular duo were added to the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster as DLC fighte
Originally due for release this past March, The Sinking City was delayed to June 27. This gave the game one last opportunity to be shown off at E3, where it made an appearance during the Kinda Funny Games Showcase. The Sinking City looks to blend detective gameplay as seen in the Sherlock Holmes series with Lovecraftian horror, which is a concept that seems to have plenty of potential. With The Sinking City due out by the end of the month , horror game fans don’t have to wait too much longer to find out if it’s able to deliver on its promising prem

Players take on the role of a straight and honest-to-a-fault cop named Cole Phelps as he rises through the ranks as a detective. Fans of beautifully crafted open worlds will love L.A. Noire. The Overcooked games have earned a well-deserved reputation for being some of the best local co-op games around. Overcooked 2 is the peak of the series so far, carrying over the fun local co-op cooking gameplay from the original and adding more levels, moves, and more. Some may not even realize this, but it’s possible to play through Fable 2 in local co-op. The second player takes on the role of a henchman, and they can transfer any gold or items they earn into their own saved game. This included Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey , with the latter being particularly well-received by fans of the genre. With reports of Phil Spencer visiting Japan studios about Xbox Series X games , it seems like a Lost Odyssey sequel could be a great way for the Xbox brand to once again try getting a foothold in the Japanese game mar

Project Gotham Racing was a launch title for the original Xbox and earned a great deal of acclaim at the time of its release, spawning three sequels that all earned strong reviews as well. Project Gotham Racing 4 , the most recent entry in the series, also earned strong reviews from critics and fans alike, but for one reason or another, Microsoft has abandoned the IP. Perhaps Microsoft made this decision so it could focus exclusively on Forza , but it would still be nice to see Project Gotham Racing make a comeback on the Xbox Series X. If nothing else, it would help give racing fans on Xbox some variety so that they have more than just new Forza games to look forward to every y
