While virtually nothing official is known about a next-gen Fable , there have been plenty of rumors dating all the way back to 2018. In fact, many expected a new Fable to be announced and teased Click At this website E3 2019, but it failed to appear at the show. But that has not stopped a continued rumor that Xbox has the game under development at UK studio Playground Games, the developers behind the Forza Horizon ser
The shift between video game morality when the first Fable game released — all the way back in September 2004 — and now has been massive. Fable helped lay the foundation for morality as a central factor in games, and watching a character slowly grow horns as they fall further into evil is still neat, but it has far less weight than what fans expect to see
That being said, it’s a necessary change for a modern title. Ideally, there will be a balance between the old system and the creation of the new one, though, with no game confirmed so far, it’s difficult to say what exactly that will look like. Fans may get a decent idea if the game is announced at Xbox’s July event, though they’ll just have to wait and find
However, perhaps the most interesting portrayal of morality – one that Fable should take notes from – is that found in The Witcher 3. Choices in The Witcher 3 have real weight, in part thanks to how well the game portrays its world as being “lived-in.” That manifests itself in many different ways, and on a surface level may not even look like a morality system. Geralt is, after all, a hero, but with his decisions determining who lives, who dies, and, in some cases, the well-being of entire cities, it’s hard to deny the state of the world at the end of the game as a sort of morality system for Ger
However, when looking at the long list of Microsoft and Sony franchises that could make the jump to next-generation hardware, it’s fairly evidently who has the edge. Taking star power and prominent, marketable franchises into account, Sny is packing several massive names that are each easy system sellers. Horizon, Spider-Man, God of War , The Last of Us, Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted; these are all series that are offering fresh, interesting concepts that fans are clamoring to see more of, and that’s without even mentioning all the currently dormant franchises that Sony could dip its toes back into as w
Next, rolling back the timeframe of a next-gen Fable lets it sit nicely in that medieval fantasy genre like Breath of the Wild . The first Fable was a fantasy jaunt with swords, bows and arrows, magic, medieval towns, and more standard medieval fare. Fable 2 and 3 progressed things forward and introduced industrial elements into its world as well as guns. There are rumors that this next-gen Fable would roll things back to that standard fantasy world, including removing guns from the ga
The Assassin’s Creed franchise is in a bit of a weird spot. Ubisoft has made it clear that it plans to keep updating Assassin’s Creed Odyssey with fresh new content, but strong rumors of a new Assassin’s Creed game have been around for a while, with a Roman and Viking setting both seeming pretty likely. Instead, Ubisoft focused on Watch Dogs Legion during its press conference, which is admittedly a bit like a modern day Assassin’s Creed. However , the lack of a new Assassin’s Creed still left a hidden blade-shaped hole in the hearts of many gam
One of the most demonstrable shifts in the way morality systems work now is in the Mass Effect series. While Andromeda’s facial animations and other aspects faced major criticisms when it released, most of which were deserved, it ditched the paragon and renegade system found in the first three entries of the series. The newer system, which gave players the option to respond in four different manners rather than just two, was still flawed, but it marked a departure from the standard good versus evil archtypes, attempting to give players more characterization, even if it didn’t necessarily succ
Tie-in games may be much less common now than they were a decade ago, but that hasn’t stopped Harry Potter fans from fantasizing about their own wizarding journeys. Leaked footage of a triple-A Harry Potter RPG began circulating months ago, but there’s been complete radio silence regarding the project since then. Fans were hoping that Warner Bros. would make a surprise appearance at one of the press conferences this year to show off the game, but the focus was instead put on another adaptation, LEGO Star Wa
Considering that Xbox currently can’t boast many big-name exclusives that really sell what its next-generation venture is all about, it makes sense for the company to go all out on Fable 4 and show it before the launch of its newest console. That’s not to say the game should be rushed to be a launch title for the Series X; nobody wants the game to not reach its potential purely for the sake of creating hype for the Serie
